    Epiphone EJ-200SCE Solid Top - Electro-Acoustic - Vintage Natural

Posted by MCAREE PAUL on 1st Apr 2019

I had done a lot of research on different guitars which were good value but not compromising on quality. The Epiphone EJ200 kept getting favourable comments. Ive had my Yamaha APX 7C since 1995 and as great it still is for my needs , i just fancied something different and new .Searched around for local suppliers and although my nearest store didnt have the EJ200 , they had a few other Epiphone models , which i was eager to play to see the build quality . Ill be honest , i didnt even lift the £2500 Gibson nearby for a wee strum .So , suitability impressed with the build and tone etc , and being informed that they were awaiting new batches of the model i was interested in , i went home and looked for the best deal online .Rich Tone came in at the best price plus , considering i live in Northern Ireland, free postage as well .Guitar arrived after a few days , very well packaged for protection etc and to be honest a reasonably low action already set on the guitar .One negative is the scratch guard below the sound hole lifted slightly as i took off the protective cellophane, but seems ok at the minute .So the sound quality is excellent. Im especially happy when i put a capo on further up the fret board , all of the strings are perfectly in tune . No slight returning of lower strings which i sometimes do with my Yamaha ( probably to do with age ).The feel is great . The fretboard is a good quality feel and the inlays give a bit of quality look to it .It has a nice bassy tone to it and as yet i havnt used the Esonic 2 electrics but the built in tuner is great .Im overall very impressed with this guitar .Yes its not a gibson , but its suitable to my needs and im sure ill get many years from it . I would definitely recommend this guitar .
