1970s

Fender Stratocasters produced during the 1970s underwent several changes compared to their earlier 1960s counterparts. With the company under the ownership of CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System), the decade saw the introduction of features such as the "bullet" truss rod adjustment, a three-bolt neck plate, and larger headstocks. Despite some concerns about quality during this era, 1970s Stratocasters are appreciated for their unique characteristics. Fender also faced increased competition from imported guitars, particularly from Japan, leading to the introduction of the "Fender Stratocaster Copy." Towards the end of the decade, Fender began producing vintage reissue Stratocasters, catering to the growing interest in vintage instruments. Despite the changes, 1970s Fender Stratocasters remain popular among collectors and players for their distinctive features and historical significance.
