Jackson guitars was founded in 1978 when Grover Jackson acquired the remnants of Charvel guitars. By 1980, the collaboration with guitar superstar Randy Rhoads resulted in the concorde, which was such a departure from Charvel's Super Strat designs, Jackson elected to label them under a different brand name.
