St James
The Blackstar St. James amplifiers are designed to be the lightest 50 Watt Guitar Amps in the world. Weighing in at only 12.8 Kgs for the Combo versions and 6.7 Kgs for the Head versions. Featuring Blackstar's proprietary power reduction system, the St James Amps have a 50 Watt, Sag and 2 Watt power modes to maximise clean headroom, optimise low volume gain performance, and with sag, obtain the vintage "feel" and response from the power stage. But that's not all, each St James Amp comes with a built in XLR DI box that allows you to run the amps at full power, even without a speaker connected using Blackstar's reactive load technology. Combine this with Blackstar's Cab Rig software for a truly professional amplifier that truly can do it all, from home, to studio to stage.
FAQs Blackstar St. James
Are Blackstar St. James Amps Light?
Yes. They are very light weight and at the time of writing are the best in class for 50 Watt Valve Amps and matching cabs. The Blackstar St James Combos weigh in at 12.8 Kgs. Heads at 6.7 Kgs. And the 2x12 Vertical Cabs at 13.6 Kgs. This will make each item a one handed lift with ease for "most" prospective customers.
Do the Blackstar St James Amps have power switching built in?
Yes. At the time of launch, each model features a full 50 Watt Power Mode for maximum clean headroom and output. There is a Sag power mode for a more "spongy" type feel, and a 2 Watt power mode allowing you to drive the valves at low volumes for maximum gain from the respective channels.
Do the Blackstar St. James Amps feature a Direct Out?
Yes. All the amps feature a direct out, via XLR and Stereo Jack Line Out/Phones. The output signal is the actual speaker output (including power valves and output transformer), that has then been passed through the CAB RIG technology, to apply the authentic feel and response of a ‘mic’d up guitar speaker cabinet in a room’. The actual sound is dependent on the CAB RIG switch setting and the more in-depth settings within the CAB RIG software.
Do the Blackstar St James Amps allow Direct Recording to a computer?
Yes. There is a built in USB Audio Out (the cable is not supplied) that will allow you to connect as an audio device to PC with corresponding USB Port. This is also requried to edit the cab rig software. As with the XLR DI above, the signal for the digital audio will be derived from the actual speaker output via the CAB RIG technology; providing a high-quality authentic mic’d cab response. The actual sound is dependent on the CAB RIG switch setting and the more in-depth settings within the CAB RIG software.
