This guitar was custom made for Martin by PRS - dating to 5th July 2012 as per soundhole sticker. See the pictures.
The guitar itself is a glorious piece and in lovely overall condition, being Martin's main gigging guitar for many years. It shows wear in the soundhole area to the soundboard along with general signs of playing on the front of the guitar.
There is also a small patch on the front of the headstock under the g string where the wood has worn away slightly.
This specific guitar was "experimental" in the fact that it was made with the lightest possible finish - which is shown on the natural playing wear, but is also in the beautiful rich and airy tone that responds delicately to fingerstyle playing.
The main specifications provided by Martin are: a Honduras Rosewood Back and Sides. Adirondack Spruce Top, Ebony Fingerboard and Bridge and a Mahogany Neck. The guitar is fitted with a Highlander IP2 under-saddle tied to a McIntyre feather. A mono cable activating just the Highlander and a Stereo cable both pick ups.
You will notice there is a small hole just above the current jack-socket which was originally for an old DeArmond pick up that was later replaced with the highlander mentioned above.
Martin has clearly loved and looked after this guitar across it's hundreds of gigs and sessions! It comes protected in a heavy duty PRS Hard Case.
