American Standard

The Fender American Standard Stratocaster has seen various versions, revisions, and sub-models since its inception. First introduced in late 1986, the American Standard Stratocaster was produced until May 2000 as its first series. Its naming convention was changed and specifications were updated from 2000 to 2007, known as the American Stratocaster, before reverting to the American Standard Stratocaster for its second series until 2012. It underwent another update for its third series until 2016 before being replaced by the American Professional Stratocaster.

While sub-models like Roadhouse and Lone Star are categorized separately, the American Standard Stratocaster is included here as it represents essentially the same model revised over time. The Fender American Standard Stratocaster is one of the most well-known guitars of recent times. If you hear people talking about an "American Strat," they are likely referring to one of these guitars.
